Harbor Belle™ was discovered at a wholesale nursery in South Alabama and was a seedling of nandina domestica selected from a population of many thousand young nandina.

This particular seedling was recognized, isolated, grown to maturity, and evaluated for seven years in many landscape situations before being selected.
